It has to be said people won't go on Saturday because its obviously not the most glamorous of games or settings.

I suspect a lot of people look at that fixture and see it as an opportunity to have a weekend away somewhere knowing they're not missing much, however it does enforce my view that a lot of Wealdstone fans see an away game as a day out and supporting the team is secondary.

No doubt many will dispute that but I saw it early in the season at Gloucester when a lot of fans got there early enjoyed the town shall we say and then once the game started just stood around chatting, or running off to the loo or bar. Basically the team received about zero vocal support although to be fair we did cheer when we scored !

The purpose of going away is to support your team and if you can have a bit of fun of course why not but it should not interfere with the primary goal.

I'll be at Concord and I'd like to see fans prove me wrong on this and for once take a few there because we never do.

It may not tick many boxes as an away game but the only box that needs to be ticked is that Wealdstone are playing there on Saturday.

a WIN at Concord would continue the Stones good form and keep us in the hunt.
Here are my result predictions for this week for the leading pack and the resulting league position and points if it were to pan out that way.
The easiest one to predict is Hemel, as they are away to Whitehawk...a sort of Community Chest, collect 3 points match for them.

1 Dartford WIN v hung away 41
2 Braintree WIN v east home 38
3Havant &W WIN v chip home 36
4 Chelmsford WIN v glou away 36
5 Hampton DRAW v etu away 36
6 Truro City X2 DRAW v ox, well away 35 = Truro LOST their midweek trip to Oxford
7 Hemel Hem WIN v whit away 35
8 Wealdstone WIN v conc away 34
9 St Albans City DRAW v oxf home 33
10 East Thurrock DRAW v ham away 32
11 Welling DRAW v tru home 32

No defeats predicted, but with some of the teams playing each other, a few draws.
I would love to be proved wrong in a couple of these and see a few more draws or even defeats for the others, in particular, the top four...that would make it all an even closer race to the finish...and we are nowhere near the last straight yet :P :P :P :P

Every day is what you want to make of it. There are worse places to watch football than the Aspect 'Arena'. Just spend as little time at the ground as possible, but make sure you're there to support 'the boys' if possible.

Snow, ice and temperatures of -2 predicted for Saturday.

Classic conditions to see an away win in an Essex wasteland.

FootballGroundsGuide to the ground, directions etc:

http://www.footballgroundguide.com/leag ... -road.html

Train is via Fenchurch Street to Benfleet.
There is both a taxi rank and bus stop for the island outside the station.

Pubs near Benfleet Station:
http://www.inapub.co.uk/venues/anchor-b ... 71ls/17093
https://www.greeneking-pubs.co.uk/pubs/ ... _campaign=

Or, as per Adam's suggestion, you can go a bit further on the train to Leigh-on-sea, dine, explore then taxi or train back to Benfleet/Canvey
https://www.c2c-online.co.uk/our-route/leigh-on-sea/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leigh-on-Sea
Pubs:

http://eastangliapubs.com/pub/the_peterboat
https://www.greeneking-pubs.co.uk/pubs/ ... /main-menu

Bus 21 from either Leigh-On-Sea or Benfleet stations goes nearest the ground. Ask the driver for the first stop in Thorney Bay Road, then walk back the way the bus has come and then walk down Thames Road to the ground.
Bus map/times pdf:
https://www.firstgroup.com/uploads/maps ... et-WEB.pdf

By car: M25, A13, A130
Postcode of the ground for Satnav:
SS8 0HH
AA live traffic news.

Local pub nearish the ground by car:
https://www.classicinns.co.uk/thelobste ... nveyisland
..mentioned in Great Expectations.....but don't hold any for the rest of the island.

Fancy staying a few days ? Thorney Bay Caravan park is literally right next door...go on, take the family, why not?

EDIT: info from the coach thread..

quote="The Guvnor"]No doubt plenty are going by train so perhaps someone would like to suggest a meet and a suggestion for a pre match location which seems to be one of the biggest issues.

From speaking to people it seems to be either Leigh on Sea or Benfleet.[/quote]

Then the logical meet-up place is Fenchurch Street Station...there is a bar at the front end of the station.
The easiest way to Fenchurch Street is to get the Met line to the end (Aldgate) and then go one stop further on the Circle Line to Tower Hill Station, then walk round the corner to the other entrance under the platforms of Fenchurch Street Station.
Then all peeps need to do is agree a time...
10.00 am too late? :o

Lads, we need to start ramping up the away following in numbers to support what could be our promotion side !!!! If we could ramp it up we're it makes the home crowd think they are at an away game would be the 12th man we're going to need as this journey unfolds..
Can we get something in the programme weekly and find the cheapest deals with coach company's? If we can get half a dozen coaches full our team will rise to that and win this bloody difficult league...
One huge family .... we need to get this around the supporters...
We are the 12th 13th 14th man
How do we achieve this?
Any ideas ?

Half a dozen coaches to a league game would be a bit much to ask I think, but I've often thought we could do better at coordinating away travel a bit more in advance?
