New Signing- Ashleigh Artwell

Postby craigw87 » Fri Jan 12, 2018 1:42 pm

The National league are reporting we have signed Ashleigh Artwell a winger from Basingstoke Town today. Second player we have brought in from Basingstoke in less than a month.
Here is some info on him;

"Artwell was a member of the Reading academy before spells at Hayes & Yeading United, Burnham and Beaconsfield SYCOB.

Before moving to non-League football, he won several caps for England Schoolboys, helping them to the 2011/12 Centenary Shield title, earning him a trial at Manchester United.

A very quick and athletic winger, he signed for Basingstoke in 2016 and in his first season, played thirty-two times, scoring 7 goals"

Guess that means one of our existing wide players must be moving on up then...
Just because you come from Wealdstone it doesn't mean you are a horrible b*stard - it's just considerably more likely that you are.

Is he, was not in the starting line up against Dorchester not sure if he came on as a sub.

Just checked Basingstoke Twitter feed last played for them 24/10 game before their Trophy loss against Dorchester, which Johnson-Schuster was Captain so he’s cup tied.

I think the connection here is the Reading academy and where BW has contacts or has worked previously.

It looks like quite a conveyor belt of players coming to us.............injured players. I can't find the last time he played. He wasn't playing for Basingstoke when Deadly and I watched them play King's Langley in early November, but was mentioned as being out for up to 6 weeks. Another one for the future, cos I doubt we'll see any of them anytime soon.
