Well done L'homme d'attique. If only we can persuade Colin to get his pictures from the previous 2 decades up online too....Col are you out there?

Haa! That Boxing Day game at Harrow Borough was my first. Remember there being a real edge to the game and a really good atmosphere. Got me wanting more!! I think we are a lot quieter these days even if there's a lot more going. Stones had a proper unit of a centre forward up front who was also quick and had loads of skill. He started in a few games at Ruislip too. Can't remember his name.

My first thought too, but if it was 2007, it was Ben Alexander.

Team was:
Carr D, Campana A, Martin Carl, Gray J, Gross M *, Ashe R *, O'Leary L, O'Leary C *, Alexander B, Dean P, Chappell L. Subs Hawes W, Delisser A, Montgomery G.
Age comes to those who wait.

That's the problem when 2 players look alike, easily done.

I often get Bappo and Ginge mixed up

I'm fairly certain Stephen Hughes joined us in 2007. His debut was the 4-1 win at Folkestone first game of the season.

Also, I wouldn't say that either Hughes or Alexander were particularly quick.

More likely to be Ben Alexander. Judging by the pics it was Alexander and Dean up front that day. BA was probably the most frustrating player that Gordon Bartlett had to deal with. Skillful, extremely strong, deceptively quick and a decent finisher. Just as he seemed to be establishing himself he'd go AWOL mid season and turn up again pre season. This cycle happened a number of times. Very frustrating for all concerned although he was fairly injury prone.

Have enjoyed putting those pics online. On the surface we actually had some decent players in 2007-8. Chappell, Gray, O'leary, Gross, Ashe, Hughes, Martin, Alexander, Jomo-Faal Thomas (RIP) plus loanees such as the Mass, Sean Thomas and Aaron Goode. Lee O'leary wasn't bad either after his unfortunate antics at Horsham. (I think previously on fire Papali missed a lot of the season with injury?) Where we struggled no doubt was in goal. Once Thomas left we were stuck with never going to be good enough youngsters and the unpredictable Karamoko. I'd actually say with a solid keeper we wouldn't have been that far away from the play offs, as opposed to being involved in a relegation scare as the season closed out.

Aside from an unhealthy obsession with Olive, there are some great snaps there, e.g. "Deadly In Edgware Brook":

Great memories, I think. You forget how close to playing park football we were at times and how small our gates etc were.
