It didn't really have the feel of a big FA Cup game to be honest, a very sparse home crowd with all the enthusiasm of a man walking to the gallows. Our turn out was ok but at least those that did attend got behind the team today so a big improvement from the fans. As for the game difficult to disagree with much of what has been said, we controlled the majority of the play but again the same old issue of carelessness/wastefulness in possession which allowed Hungerford hope when really they should have had none. I never felt they would score and it was only at 2-0 when possibly we relaxed a bit that they scored from out of the Blue. Shomotun of course was the difference and he provides the cutting edge which we've so badly missed this season at times. Poku and Ahmidi do a good job in the middle but they are of course both holding players in essence. BHO and Monakana have both showed flashes this season but are not consistent enough whereas Green just added another to his long list of ineffective games today. I'm not sure what would have happened today without Shomotun and thats a big worry. I'm happy with our strength, work rate and organisation so a good base to work from. However our creativity is now becoming a real problem which time won't heal so BW is going to have to wheel and deal a bit to make a change or two in that area because its just not happening. Still another 15k in the bank and into the hat on Monday. A lot of Connie South sides left in it and with the Southern National sides entering our half of the draw we'll do well to get a gimme. At this stage you just have to hope for a home draw and just take it from there.

Dreadful first half . Despite all the possession it took us 25 minutes to have a shot on goal. WHY?

Now there is £25k waiting for the wInners of the next round.

Will £25k plug the hole in the budget?

Stones are better than they played today. They need to believe not only the supporters.

Traditionally the 3rd round qualifying was when interest really picked up. This was back in the Ryman Premier days when we entered during the 1st round. Do remember we also entered during the preliminary rounds during our darker days. To get to the 3rd round qualifying was quite an achievement in itself. We got there twice against Belper and Rothwell. Both were actually fair opportunities to get the 4th round qualifying of which had eluded us for about 15 years. And yep....each of these were games we generally controlled but disaster struck in a variety of ways. These would now be seen as absolute plumb draws with our present side.

Anyways...I think these days the 4th qualifying is where the excitement starts to build for a club of our standing. Its probably also considered 'par' for a Conference South team.
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who have not got it.
