Woking 3-2 Stones

Oh so agonising as with around 15 to go Stones were 2-0 and looking destined for the play off final. I think it's safe to say our legs simply went and there was only going to be one winner once they got their first goal. We looked out on our feet although it took an injury time winner to seal our fate.

Proud of the players to get us here though. Great show of strength from the supporters who made up 600 of the crowd. Just didn't quite have enough in the tank when it came to crunch time.

I have been in Ireland so have had to follow the ups and downs of the play offs via social media. Well done to the team, management and the huge travelling support (at short notice). You should all be proud. Roll on next season.

Just ran out of puff in the end. No shame in letting a two goal lead slip for sure. We were dead on our feet in the end. Their first goal switched the momentum, as whilst they had a lot os possession, they weren't causing us too many problems. Once the goal went in their crowd became more livelier and they built up a head of steam. Though it was cruel to let in a goal in injury time, Woking would have gone on to win in extra time no doubt.

Jon North not being available was crucial, as the left field choice of former Slough and current Bracknell keeper didn't quite work. He didn't really come for any crosses and that was instrumental in the first goal despite being a big lad.

Now for the board to give the manager a budget that is competitive and for BW to build on the second half of the season..

The crowd was just over 2,900, with a magnificent 602 (plus that went into the wrong terraces and were escorted into our parts). Brilliant turn out from the younger element of our support.

To be fair EE we've conceded headers from inside our 6 yard box with Northy in goal. I actually think the difference would have been the communication and organisation of our back line. We did seem to switch off a bit but maybe this was just mental and physical fatigue.

As soon as their 1st went in the inevitable was bound to happen.Disappointed but not totally gutted.

I may be gutted later this summer if we lose some of our key players though.

Oh well, see you all next season.

Agree Attic, we missed North for his communication and the trust that defence/team have in him.

No shame in that at all. One hell of a shift from every single player, and it just wasn’t to be. Woking won, fair play, but I’d back Welling all day long. No disgrace at all, and can’t wait to welcome most of these players back next season. UTS.

Much talk on their forum of their player being "miles offside" presumably for the winner.

The players did magnificently to give us today. The decision not to strengthen in late March though caught up with us in the end. Another forward and a pair of legs in midfield might have seen us over the line at Woking. Similar thread on twitter where expectation for the season were aired. Of course a 'glorious failure' has some logic but we may never find out for a long time what 100 minutes away from the Conference national feels like.

I'll say it again, we managed to get that close in spite of tightening the purses strings excessively.
