Game off!!!

Hardly a surprise. Has been hammering down all night with more rain possible this afternoon.

You couldn’t make this stuff up.

What a time to be alive!

Have we ever had the first game of the season called off due to bad weather in our history before?

Fully expected after the amount of rain we've had but to have the first game of he season off for a waterlogged pitch is not good.

However lets see how many games are off today before we pass further comment.

Hmmm, we are the only game off in our league today. Not a great look. Will this be an issue for us? Do clubs at this level generally have better drainage systems, etc. Judging by the reaction from Chesterfield fans, perhaps. Genuine question.

As things stand we are the only game off in any league.

Can you imagine if 2000 people were coming to the game today ?

What should have been one of the great days in our history has been reduced to an utter shambles and quite rightly we are being pilloried by all and sundry.

What makes me laugh though is that come June or July you see various people posting pictures on social media commenting how good the pitch looks. Well, its not fit for purpose if you can't get on the first game of the season because its been raining.

I'm surprised there hasn't been a stronger reaction to this debacle because its utterly embarrassing and reflects on everyone associated with the club.

We could get away with it in the Ryman league because basically nobody cared but as a NL club I'm afraid I concur with WES its Mickey Mouse.

A Black day for the club in my book.

Talk about bad timing for this deluge to arrive, considering how dry the summer has been. Has the London/South East had more than the rest of the country? True, the pitch has always been blighted and could have cost us the last time we were on TV in the FA Cup, but 2020 f%@k off!

Obviously not because there would be more games off. Maybe its the The Vale micro climate rearing its ugly head again. Meanwhile in the small print non elite leagues, Harrow Boro manage to get their game on.
