Wealdstone vs Chesterfield Town

Postby Royal Blue » Sun Oct 18, 2020 6:24 pm

Our game in hand to be played this Tues - the only National League game this midweek in fact. No weather problems anticipated this time.

Think we've had a tough start? - well Chesterfield have played the top 4 sides - narrow losses to Stockport, Torquay and Hartlepool. However, they comfortably beat 4th placed Woking (4-0). Some reporting that their recent takeover delayed pre-season training. However, we are all up and running now..

Predict a big physical battle, both sides really wanting to win this. For Chesterfield that would mean getting out of the relegation zone. Watched a bit of their game vs Stockport on BT and they've got some big units and seem decent, solid.

We'll be buoyed by the Wrexham win and looking for back to back wins going into the FA Cup. Why not. First clean sheet would be nice but highly unrealistic..

We could really do with a fit and motivated Wishart for this - its a real shame he's not part of things at the mo. Someone mentioned he looked a bit heavy..

Anyway, as Phillips has a knock and adjusting for rotation..

Isted

Okimo
Cawley
Mendy (Wishart if fit and DB rotating)
Effete

Dyer
Green
Lewis
Wakefield (Charles if fit and DB rotating)
Benyu

RLF

Subs
Emmanuel
Parish
Wakefield
Slew
Mendy

You forgot one of our consistent performers Connor Smith. Must start if not injured.

You're quite right. Apologies Mr Smith. Maybe Smith for Benyu, give Green the game time.

I don't think he can be trusted at this level, far too careless with his distribution.

Expecting more goals in this one, we are the football equivalent of the man who risks it all on the roll of a dice.

He might win but the likelihood is he'll do his money.

Believe Chesterfield play a physical game with an established big man up front. Tom Denton?? Lots of high balls into the box and closing down etc. Maybe one for Cawley to prove his aerial ability. Not expecting an easy game at all.

I think at this stage we just look to outscore them!!

Yeovil - 'open' football 2-2 we should have won
Dagenham - cagey high press from them 0-1 could have got something
Stockport - open football - 2-5 ran out of steam against the highest flyers
Wrexham - end to end dice roll fest 4-3
Chesterfield - big pro units nothing fancy (Burnley?) - play their own game and don't bother with ours so much 3-3
