Hastings Away

Postby Bananas » Tue Jul 20, 2010 10:36 am

Is a month away, and can't come quick enough in my opinion!

Anyhoooo...following afternoon tea at the Vale yesterday, talk turned to this most interesting of opening fixtures, and the suggestion that as it's early season, the weather is probably gonna be nice, and by then the first team will be hungry for it, that it might be a good idea to consider a booze bus for the boys...

Who would be interested? Is it even worth our while making enquiries? Plan would be to leave the Vale around 10am to be down there for 12, couple of pints on the outskirts of town, then in for the game. Leave fairly soon after the end of the match (as this might not be an option considering what happened last year...) maybe stop off for a couple on the way back somewhere nice (result dependant probably) to get back to HA4 for a couple of liveners before the bar shuts.

Should be a good day out. So...are you interested or not, or shall we all just start looking at train timetables? Let me know on here or at a game. Need to know pretty soon so we can make enquiries etc....

My own preference is a train trip (surprise surprise) but that is subject to me being able to swap rest days as I am working that Saturday at the moment.

For direct trains your best bet either dep Charing Cross 10.15 arr Hastings 11.57 or dep Charing Cross 10.45 arr Hastings 12.17.

The return leaves Hastings at 17.50 and arrives at Charing Cross 19.33.

A normal off peak return is around £26 though you can get Group Save discounts as well as a discount if anyone has a Network South East Railcard.

Unbelievably there are currently NO UndergroundD line closures that weekend either!!

Not wishes to hi-jack this thread,

What happened last year??

Did they object to vocals? or was this the match regarding flags being placed on perimiter fencing, and "blazers" objecting..

It mainly stemed from the flags on permitter fencing and some very hands on stewards. Quite an interesting day out for me!

I was recently pulled up by Bappo for calling Football ‘footie’.
I feel it only right to pull you up on the annoying term you use of ‘my rest days’, please stop this American nonsense and use ‘days off’ from now on....

Sorry, it isn't intentional, but that is how it is worded on my roster. So next time I have a day off from working in my caboose on the railroad and I don't have to take a root beer to the engineer I'll bear it in mind. :D
