FAT Round 2 the road to Wembley v Bath City

Postby russpa » Tue Jan 06, 2015 9:55 pm

Now the competition starts to hot up as we meet Bath City on Saturday and a break from the hectic league fixture list in the Xmas period
Bath have usually had Wealdstone with a (L) before the result score over the years but that all changed a couple of weeks back with a memorable match which will stay in the memory banks for years.

We were awful at home early in the season against them but the team is much different to then in September with a more solid look to it and performing better, they have had a mix and match of results lately seemingly lots better at home than away which may not count for much in the cup as the league , but without an away win in all matches since mid October.

Reply at Bath midweek ? no thank you !!!(they may say different )

No need for that Charlie sunshine ;)

Obviously a Stones win on Saturday is what we all want but if we're losing 1-0 and nab an injury time equaliser........a long overdue midweek Road Rash will be welcomed here!

For sure we'll miss the goals of Louis but if we stick to our patient possession based football i'm sure we'll wear them down . We must be due to sign another no hoper soon or have we signed them all already.

'Former Oxford United and Bristol Rovers striker looking to end his career at the Vale'

Well, he's doing a good job so far

Okay boys and girls, let's get a bit upbeat about Saturday shall we?
Before Kaney says it, this 2nd round tie is MASSIVE!
We've only reached this stage three times before; v Hastings in 1972 (won 5-2 but lost in replay to South Shields in next round; v Wycombe in 1985 (won 2-1 and of course won the bloody thing); v Dartford three years ago (won 1-0 in a replay, then beat Cambridge before losing the semi to Newport.
Do you feel the stirrings? Of course you do. Flags, scarves, songs - we need everything we can muster if we're to beat Bath at home for the first time in nearly 40 years.
The Romans are hoping to mobilise lots of their fans Eastwards - maybe not the 400 who saw them win at Bristol Rovers in the last round but I'd expect around 100 or more. Should be a cracker!

I was only joking about JL.

I actually think he looked a bit better when he came on, on Sunday.

He may start to do the business in the league with a few more minutes under his belt.

He'll need to start jumping for the ball though.
