Fight to beat the drop

Fight to beat the drop

Although our focus is naturally on our own promotion push and how our nearest rivals are performing, what a battle there is at the foot of the table.

Just a single point separates Concord in 15th from Stale Buns in 21st spot. Hungerford look doomed, but who else will join them? Riccay could yet set a record as getting relegated, yet going the whole season unbeaten at home. The benefit of playing on a sand dune (Tonbridge take note).

If I had to pick three away trips that I would not be upset to miss if I was staying in this league (surely that won't happen) I guess I'd pick Concord, Braintree and Billericay (a true love of Essex). Seeing St. Albans trying to extract £18 on the gate for an Isthmian or Southern League fixture would be amusing, but they only have 9 games left to avoid the drop. Be a great shame if Dulwich didn't pull clear, and a trip to the seaside is always one to relish (even on plastic).
