R. I. P. Bob Hawke.

Just noticed the old bugger died yesterday.
Good bloke. Bloody good Prime Minister. For a prominent trades unionist and Labour Party leader, he privatised a heck of a lot of stuff while Maggie was doing likewise over here, but put in a lot of welfare & social infrastructure... and brought in immigration legislation that deterred firms from allowing Pommie bastard cycle couriers to work in Sydney on a "self-employed" basis.
Known to the younger generation merely for skulling pints.

Remember Bob getting elected in what was an unlikely win, then again, the Hawke was up against the Peacock.

Probable best known for introducing Medicare and "giving" everybody a day off when Australia broke the USA's hold on the America's Cup.

Poor choice of Chancellor though.
