Help for Heroes charity

Postby chelski reject » Fri Feb 12, 2010 7:15 pm

There's loads of good causes all vying for our attention and money however the plight of our forces serving in Iraq and Afghanistan ,and the levels of injuries that they've sustained ,caused well wishers who'd visited the wounded servicemen at Selly Oak hospital and been moved by their bravery, to do something to help.

The charity is celebrating its third year having raised an incredible £40 million. The money is committed to different projects with the intention to spend it all on the practical, direct support of those wounded in the service of our country since 9/11.

The two paragraphs above are gleaned from the information in the leaflets and on the internet - the reason that Wealdstone FC are getting behind this worthy cause is more personal as most of us know or know of 'geordie stones fan' . He's over there doing something that most of us couldn't imagine having to cope with. He asked the forum to see if it could raise some money for his fellow servicemen and thanks to the encouragement of all at the club i've managed to get the collection tins , publicity banners , posters and literature to make this possible.
When you're next in the clubhouse please consider purchasing one of the wristbands that show your support or put the change from your pint into one of the jars.
I'm sure geordie will send his thanks and appreciation to you all in due course.
