Hayes & Yeading Friendly

Just seen that this is on the training pitch and has to be watched through a fence with no bar, refreshments or toilets.

They can’t even open the bar and toilets - what a shambles.

This seems to have caused something of a stir on social media. Whats effectively a mickey mouse friendly that very few should care about (bar the management) has got right up some people's nostrils!!!!!! Obviously some itching for some WFC action :D

I think its fair to say our pre season proper starts on Saturday at Hitchin. Expecting to see a settled team throughout.

The match poster is misleading so the main thing is everyone knows what they're letting themselves in for should they choose to go.

The next first team game is at Hitchin on Saturday, tomorrow is just a training session.

One game against Hayes and the other against Yeading so it makes sense.

As I said on Facebook this will probably increase the attendance slightly. Our numerous ground hopper types will see this as a 'tick' and will be there in their droves. Have been to these types of game (on photography business honest....) and always amazed as to how many turn up, peering through the fence whilst deciding which stoat adventure is next on the agenda :P

Can recommend a great radio museum in Orkney for those who really want to earn their anorak. Far more stoat points than hanging around a 3G pitch next to the Uxbridge Road.

The game finished 2-2. According to twitter a 'starting XI' cruised into a 2-0 lead. Second half saw more or less 11 new players introduced and this allowed Yeading back into the game. For the players it must have been like being in a wildlife enclosure, with numerous faces peering and pointing at them from outside of the cage.

They gave out a free team sheet, there was a tea bar open and toilets were available next door in the main stadium...which was being watered and mowed as our game was being played. Slightly surreal evening with a good turnout of Stones fans there, looking through the wire. Both sets of our players looked comfortable and made some excellent moves and both Hayes in the first half (or game according to the team sheet) and Yeading in the second were mostly confined to rare forays going forward. Their goal had a charmed life with several shots hitting the bar or upright, but also alas several shots were ballooned over the bar, over the cage and into the fields behind....with a little more composure when on the final ball, goals will follow.
A good workout on a hot evening .
