Stones 4 Watford U23 0

A more than comfortable victory for Wealdstone today against average opponents.

Goals from Green, Noel-Williams, Mendy and Lewis sealed the win that would have been more but for good keeping/ poor finishing.

Green and Clifford the two stand out performers.

Noticed today that trail list number 7.. was last seasons POTY for a relegated Con National team .

Team taking shape..... Danny Green /Billy Clifford/Connor Stevens.. pulling the strings

I think you meant Connor Smith charlie...although Connor Stevens did his usual excellent job in defence.

A very comfortable win today, I thought Watford were pretty weak and perhaps they got off lightly with just a 4 goal defeat. One of the main reasons was our lack of sharpness in front of goal, Lafayette was unavailable so a half each for Noel-williams and Reece-Richards. Both fluffed their lines in my opinion, Noel-Williams because he's just not good enough and Reece-Richards with some lame finishing. Centre mid was very strong today, a lot of decent stuff played out of there and we were fairly controlled at the back with only Sellars having a few uncomfortable moments. Apparently he's recovering from an injury but looks rusty so 2 weeks to sort himself out.The trialist looked very decent too and if he signs midfield will be our stronghold this season, maybe not the brawn of last year but far more brain.

Don’t disagree Gordon. Had we been better up top, the score line could have been very embarrassing for Watford. Thought for a big lad, Gifton-Willliams looked pretty weak and struggled to get a shot off quickly. He did take his header well though.

We played some nice stuff, decent inter-play . Still think we need a holding midfielder in the Poku mould, which the A Trialist maybe the one.

Poor crowd of around 250/300, whilst Dulwich got 3k verses Spurs kids.

Its difficult to see us getting a good crowd pre season crowd as people just aren't interested. And quite frankly when you look at the sort of sides Watford are sending down its a waste of everyones time and the £8 admission fee will probably make those that did attend think twice about it next time.

The fixtures against Colchester and Wycombe are perfect from a playing perspective but again you will be looking at 250-300 through the gate.

Dulwich are not a good comparison as their fan base is somewhat strange but good luck to them, they've cornered the market.

I doubt it was Spurs that got 3k into the ground, more likely they announced that Karl Marx and Che Guvera were playing up front.

It appears it was more like an U18 side from Spurs as well. What is interesting about Dulwich is normally their holiday season gates are relatively lower and don’t pick up until mid September. Their gates against other pro clubs this pre season have been 5-600, so they must have advertised the Spurs game pretty well to move that along to 3k.

News on A Trialist from his previous club is pretty positive. Decent midfielder who can play at RB as well. It appears he offered to take a pay cut but his previous club turned him down.

Christian Smith blasted a penalty over the bar for Hamlet in that game. :o Monakana came on as a sub too. Hamlet charged £12 on the day too.

Dan Finill pics from yesterday can be viewed at https://www.flickr.com/photos/156680995 ... 9737950182

Shame the club didn't offer an on-line exclusive Ticket Deal for ALL four home PSF games - might have persuaded a few more thro the gate...
