The solution is actually very simple, and something I used to very good effect. Forget its a free kick and just imagine you are whipping the ball in from a corner into the near post area.

Trust me it works.

I dare say. Stu, Matt are you there, anybody - can you pass it on ‘cos we’re fed up with it.

If you watch his technique he's basically choking the shot a bit like a golfer. Even if he got it on target it wouldn't have enough pace to beat the keeper. You have to accelerate into the ball and trust yourself. He lacks faith in his ability to do it because its been so long since he scored one but unless he takes the handbrake off that will never change. He definitely has the ability though to do it but his head is stopping him.

Very good assessment and insight Guv, maybe when your allowed out you should give a session on free kicks. We should set it up down at Hindes Rd Rec.

Doesn't need to practice, its just the mental approach needs to change.

It's stuff like this that has nothing to do with full time or part time. We had our pants pulled down by two very part time teams in the cups so far this season anyway. Not doing the basics in both games. Yes we know the disadvantages to being PT in a full time league, but let's at least resemble a decent PT team first of all before we just give up on the level.

Steps have been made to make us harder to beat, the work ethic is definitely there, just a question of getting some other aspects of our play right too.
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who have not got it.

Precisely. Get through this mess - minimising financial harm, debrief the season/learn, appoint and crack on.

And the fans will be back in numbers too.
