Dover punished

12 point deduction next season and £40,000 fine. Their 20/21 results expunged. They are as good as relegated next season.

Should be more that 12 in my opinion.

20 would have been more appropriate.

What money on appeal being successful and fine and points being halved.

But what will really hit them hard though is they might not be applauded off when they come to The Vale next season.

But they haven't been relegated and what has it cost us to keep playing, a hell of a lot more than 40k.

So they've probably stashed a load of money away and will be able to finance a better squad than us next season. They may still go down but I bet they have a half decent side which will go very close to staying up or maybe even achieving it.

Sounds like we should have done the same.

The Panel issued a £2,000 fine to Southport for, based on the evidence received, misinformation of the status of a player’s Covid-19 test to avoid playing a fixture on dates set by the League

A 2k fine for lying about the effects of a pandemic to avoid playing an inconvenient fixture. Hmm.

As they knew full well relegation was never going to be the critical punishment, a 30 points deduction and a £100k fine would have been appropriate in the knowledge that an appeal will inevitably halve the original sanction....

Thought they may get off relatively lightly. So an extra £50k+ in the bank for next season which gives them an advantage. No doubt they'll be looking to make up half of those 12 points against us next season.

So as pathetic a punishment it seems....we've just got to get our own house in order and give them two hidings next season.

To all intents and purposes Dover have been rewarded for refusing to complete the season. I wonder if it's too late for a few other clubs to follow suit?
