Name the youngest aged player(s) to play for Stones

Postby charlie » Tue Apr 13, 2021 8:04 pm

Peter on the Zoom meeting mention Jake Askew starting at the age of 18, then he mentioned Bernie Bremer as Wealdstone s youngest ever to don the shirt.
Maybe he did start direct from school after being introduced by Hugh Lindsay to the club.... Without DOBs not sure.

But I recall two 16 year old players.... one Stuart Pearce in 1978... and in 1968... Colin Franks who went on to play for Watford and Sheffield United.

Now where is my anorak it is bloody cold in the evening still .!

Charlie your post should get the old grey cells working.
The youngest player to make an appearance for the 1st team was
Francis Joseph just shy of his seventeenth birthday. Colin Franks and
Stuart Pearce were seventeen I Believe. Elijah Hearn who came on as
sub against Barnet could now hold that record as he isn't seventeen to July.

The only one I do know, and mainly because his DoB is on Wikipedia is Stuart Pearce.

Born April 1962, debut for the Stones was March 1979 so a month short of his 17th Birthday.

I think over the years quite a few 16 year olds have played particularly in County cups so in answer to the question its probably down to whether the club have retained that sort of information.
