Stockport County Away Lost 0-4.

For all things Wealdstone FC

Stockport County Away Lost 0-4.

An early disallowed goal for County.
Some stout defending as County lay siege to the Stones goal.
Some great counter attacking moves by the Stones down the right wing.
A couple of half chances for Wealdstone, while attempts at goal almost reached double figures for County.

0-0 Half Time.

1-0 to County 52 minutes. 2 great saves by Askew but then it went in.
2-0 54 minutes while I was still typing...

64th min.. 7th corner and 14 goal attempts for County.
66 mins Gondoh on.
73 mins another good save by Askew.
3-0 85 mins ball deflected into the goal.
Match commentators are complementary about Wealdstone trying to play football rather than throwing in the towel.
5 yellows for Wealdstone.
4-0 Askew leaves a gap at a free kick.
It pissed down the entire game.
4-0 Full Time.

Brilliant Stones !!

We have the Worst defensive record in league against Stockport second highest goals scored in National League.

45 minutes not conceding... against a team looking to get back in the League... playing a Stones team of players cobbled together due to furlough/injuries etc.

We may well lose ...but 45 minutes playing away against a team put together with £££..... still at 0-0.... against the part-timers.. Hats Off.

Sadly a semi collapse towards the end. Sounds like the effort was there at least but proof of how much work needs to be done for next season to be remotely enjoyable.
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who have not got it.

I would imagine no one is under any illusions about that. It must be about building a coherent first XI early doors?

Today showed to me how well organised and well coached we are - you can have the best shape into the world though, but without the players to meet that standard, you are dead in the water. The attitude was great, all the way through and no one is decrying the effort... but once the first goal went in, the game was up. We have to get real. The next couple of months is all about recruitment and I’m excited to see who we can bring in to raise the bar. Five to go.. thank goodness for that
